.How to get there
As I drive up the entrance to 'Delight Spa & Beauty' at the Hotel Waldhaus in Flims, I can already imagine the lavishness, closeness to nature and the understated luxury that awaits me inside. Only an hour from Zurich and located amidst the beautiful countryside of the biggest hotel park of Switzerland, it was aptly awarded 'Hotel of the Year 2013' by the Swiss newspaper SonntagsZeitung.
Curiously, I viewed both the exclusive bookable 'delight, private spas', which opened only last year. Truly something to be proud of. 'Rocca Bella' turns out to be the ideal honeymoon spa. Here, no wish remains unfulfilled. From the generously sized sauna and steam bath, treatment area for couples, chic lounge area with its own bar and TV, to the outdoor area with 5x5m large, heated pool and an absolutely private garden. The whole area amounts to an impressive 100m2 indoor and 150m2 outdoors.
The luxurious 'Belvita Spa', is ideal for a larger group of up to six people. Here the Afghan white-salt-light-cube with oxygen/sole inhalation is especially offered. This pleasantly heated cube, which on request brings an alternating colour scheme to life is world-wide truly unique. Perhaps I'll share this tip one day with my friends in Flims.
My highlight in the private spa, however, is the Design Floating Suite. A floating tub is filled with a high degree of salinity in the water, called sole, so one feels the effect of floating. An extraordinary experience, which a short time later my body underwent. Shielded from all external stimuli, floating delivers an almost meditative state and a deep recovery condition. This alpha condition is a stage between wakefulness and dreaming and activates the body's self-healing powers.
Deeply relaxed, I float into the 'delight spa & beauty' area where the 'big wellness oasis' and a massage was waiting for me. On my way I notice the organic swimming pond, where one can be greeted by Koi in summer, and take a real ice bath in winter. I cannot withstand more than putting my toes in so I opt instead for a long bath in the massage bay of the outdoor heated pool.
I relish the peace, the panorama and the invigorating mountain air. After that, I revel in a marvellous massage before returning happily and fully recovered home.
