Whenever the sun starts to get lower and the chestnuts fall from the trees in the mountains, it starts all over again: autumn in Switzerland is vermicelli time! The dessert made from pureed chestnuts pressed into little brown worms can be found everywhere.

In Zurich, however, four people take it particularly seriously: Hanna, Nicole, Pia and David form the Vermicelli team. This year, for the fifth time, they are providing Zurich residents with the dessert of the hour at the pop-up Vermicelleria.

From 2 to 26 November 2023, fresh and delicious vermicelli will be served in a ceramic coupe, topped with meringue baked in a fire oven, cream, vanilla ice cream and topped with a cherry. Gourmet coffee, quince schnapps, fruit brandies and cider are also available.

The four friends source all their products from Switzerland, above all, of course, the most essential raw material - the fresh chestnuts of the season. These are harvested in ancient chestnut orchards in Bergell, called Selven, from sometimes centuries-old trees.

Equipe Vermicelli also spared no effort and spent a week collecting chestnuts in the regions from Bellinzona to Locarno. These are then used to make delicious vermicelles, which are served in the Vermicelleria in coupe cups.

The team also sells merchandising for all those who take autumnal indulgence as seriously as they do: Vermicelles En Bloc, meringues, T-shirts, posters or the enchanting handmade ceramic coupes produced especially for the Vermicelleria.

As the pop-ups have enjoyed great popularity in previous years, this year, Equipe Vermicelli has moved into new quarters in the Sous-Sol in the inner courtyard of Bäckerstrasse 26. The Swiss dessert is truly celebrated here. And word has got around.
