.How to get there
If there’s one thing we can agree on, it’s that Tre Fratelli must never change! The locale has stood in Wipkingen since 1975 with one of the most beautiful gardens in town. For 25 of those years, Reshat Shalaku has been practically married to Tre Fratelli. He’s a full-blooded restaurateur, loves good food and wine, and absolutely pampers his guests!
The atmosphere in Tre Fratelli is very familial, with plenty of regulars, some of them having traveled quite far. The menu includes a number of classics, like meatloaf, poussin, and homemade ravioli with seasonal filling. Some guests travel from Biel several times a year for the meatloaf alone. The kitchen uses regional products and has worked with the same farmers and butchers for years, caring for their personal contacts.
Since we can’t decide on just one, we sample our way through several dishes. For our appetiser we order stewed beetroot salad with apples, pears, and horseradish, along with an incredible Muotathal goats cheese cake and morel-filled ravioli. All three win us over and we can’t wait for the main. The marinated poussin is crisply roasted, filled with herbs and served with thin-cut chips. It doesn’t get any better than that!
I really enjoy the wine list as well, comprised only of European wines, including a number of excellent wines from Switzerland. Reshat takes care of the selection personally, and loves going on expeditions. At Tre Fratelli, you feel like a guest at a friend’s. From the reception to the competent wine advice and personal farewell at the door — An incredible place!
