Every person is blessed with special talents. It’s not uncommon, though, for them to stay hidden inside of us for decades, before we recognise them or bring up the courage to follow our passion. This is also Florence Shicker Hefti’s life story, who, after working as a successful lawyer for ten years, decided to make her passion for interior design her profession.

“I really came alive during the building and decorating of our home”, she remembers. “The worlds of aesthetics and interior design have always fascinated me”. With a young child and nearing 40, Hefti began wondering whether she saw herself working as a lawyer for the next 25 years.

She didn’t, and two years ago, left her job to study at London’s Chelsea College of Arts. In January 2017, she launched her own interior design office, Moodboard Interiors, and a few months later, opened an online shop for exclusive home accessories going by the same name.

Ever since, she’s been carefully selecting pieces for her shop that she’s personally drawn to. From pillows and blankets to vases and scarfs, through to ceiling- and floor lamps. Her style? Simple, elegant and high-end – with a penchant for things that give you a little “wink”. Cheeky, unexpected details that give an interior that needed edge.

Like the pillows by New York label Patch NYC, which she exclusively sells in Switzerland, Florence Schicker Hefti is keen to introduce products at Moodboard Interiors that aren’t available everywhere. One of these is the marble dish “The Ring” by Spanish label Aparentment, which resembles an art object even when left empty.

All pieces in the small, carefully-selected product range are perfectly combinable and represent her personal style, which she likes to call “Scandinavian-elegant”. Like her design sketches, her selected products are timeless, speaking their own language without ever becoming too cool and impersonal.

We especially like the flower vases 23 and 24 by the Danish brand Ro, as well as the delicate lamps made of fine wires by Forestier from Paris. Also very classy: the elegant purist collection by Danish AYTM, and the floor lamps by Germany’s internationally-acclaimed family business Pulpo

The product selection is continuously changing and in coming years we can expect the Moodboard Interiors range to grow. “But never too much”, Florence Schicker Hefti emphasises. It’s very important to her, that the offering never becomes overwhelming. Even within the individual brands, she only selects products that she’s one hundred percent convinced of and that match her concept.

To inspire her customers, the interior designer has also recently launched the blog In the Mood for…. “I want to encourage people to use accessories in new ways, and at the same time, give people the courage to try something new”. – In this spirit, dive into the world of Moodboard Interiors >>>.
