The hotel Lady's First would have been the perfect address for me during the times when I travelled for business and spent a night every week in yet another hotel room. It is in fact a place where the needs of the female guests are, in essence, taken into account.
Here you will not find auto/motor/sports magazines at the reception or pub-style signage promoting a club sandwich with beer after work. In Lady's First lobby the guest is invited to unwind on one of the cosy settees with a cup of tea or coffee, and spend winter evenings by the open fireplace. And in the summer, the flowering rose arbour, whose fine fragrance spreads throughout the hotel, adds to this wonderful retreat. Main and small meals can be had here and, of course, in-room.
The elegant rooms and the hotel throughout have been designed by the renowned architect Pia Schmid and furnished with ladies’ preferences in mind: smart silk curtains and warm colours dominate the ambience of the place that is well-kept, simple yet inviting. The bathroom light dims for a cosy bath and offers, in addition to body and face products, other essential amenities such as a decent hairdryer and a fluffy bathrobe.
The highlight of Lady's First is the wellness center on the 4th floor. Exclusively for women, it is open to non-guests. It has a stylish steam bath with its Moroccan Tadelakt plaster, a Finnish and bio sauna adorned with a starry sky. One can find repose in the spacious relaxation room or, in good weather, out on the roof terrace with views of the lake, the Grand Cathedral and the Dolder. From my experience, it is wonderfully relaxing here on a rainy afternoon away from life’s humdrum.
The many regular guests of the Lady's First, of which many men belong, particularly appreciate the friendly staff and the individuality of the hotel. With its special concept, it is a welcome change to the monotony of the usual hotel chains.
