Spending a night at different quarters needn’t always mean the most latest and stylish digs, I thought when, on the spur of the moment, I recently took the occasion to stay overnight at Hotel Seegarten in Seefeld. Sometimes it's satisfying just to have a relaxed stay akin to staying with friends. 28 individually furnished rooms with a Mediterranean ambience in the middle of the hip Seefeld district, close to some of the hottest bars, boutiques and restaurants in town. Sounds good to me!
Hugely popular, an Italian restaurant belongs to the house under the name "Latino", and there is a convivial atmosphere when I arrive at the hotel late in the evening. But I am drawn up the stairs to my room and I look eagerly forward to the walk at the lake nearby in the morning.
The deluxe room - Quartier – in which I stayed, has wooden parquetry flooring, rattan furniture and a large bed, pleasantly reminding me of past holidays in the south. A black and white striped awning protects the elegant boxwood on the small balcony outside the window and the modern photograph of mountain panorama reminds me that I am in Switzerland.
I am quite impressed by the countless amenities available for Hotel Seegarten guests: fluffy bathrobes, slippers, mini bar, bedside Samsung tablets, and so on. I am already familiar with the bathroom toiletries from the Hotel Lamée in Vienna, and I have the bedside lamp "Costanza" in my own living room.
In summer breakfast is served on the terrace of the restaurant, and I enjoy the must-have Birchermuesli, fresh fruit, cooked eggs, some delicious cheese, and all the other basics that belong to a solid breakfast. Restored, I make my way to the lake – only a minute’s walk away! And afterwards a very easy stroll to the magical old town. The location is simply unbeatable – I shall return!
