.How to get there
If you're looking for a little Peru in Zurich, Cantina in Kalkbreite is just the place for you. Inspired by traditional chicherías, where friends and family get together for a cosy meal and a drink, the well-known fine-dining restaurant Barranco operators are now offering their second project.
Here at Cantina, Peruvian comfort food is served in a simple and warm ambience, from a "Pan con Palta", a grilled sourdough bread with avocado, chimichurri, feta and roasted corn, to "Empanadas Morada", filled with mushrooms, Kalamata olives and of course chimichurri.
The kitchen team combines authentic Peruvian products with Swiss ingredients to create delicious menus and refreshing drinks, especially the popular chicha drink. This is a fermented drink, homemade from various grains and fruits, and the menu can change daily. Biodynamic wines are also a highlight on the drinks menu.
Whether for an extensive brunch, a quick lunch or an enjoyable dinner, the menu perfectly fulfils the desire for authentic Peruvian cuisine. Five starters, such as "Ceviche Criollo" or mashed potato with crispy oyster mushrooms called "Causa Vegana", lead into the dinner menu. There are also five main courses that give a comprehensive insight into Peru's rich, aromatic cuisine. Served simply and heartily.
And a particularly good idea is that tables are always kept free here at the Cantina for spontaneous "walk-ins".
