.How to get there
I have never understood why speakers have to be so ugly. mo° sound mastermind Ronald Jaklitsch hasn’t, either. Or to be more precise: He never understood why they have to be boxes made from wood or plastic. This is why he builds porcelain ball speakers.
Ronald Jaklitsch and his partner Xiane Kangela run the mo° sound store in Vienna’s lively Siebensternviertel. mo° stands for more and the name says it all. The mo° sound store is a place of wonder where sound aesthetes and music lovers can talk shop and listen to their heart’s content. Listen and feel. Because the mo° sound speakers don’t just make great sound, they are also wonderful to the touch.
They come in the designs classic and superior, and in the colours white, black, silver, gold, and platinum. The brand new Augarten edition is made from Augarten Porcelain. In collaboration with the internationally reknown Viennese manufacture they have created a one-of-a-kind speaker beauty that has even earned them a nomination for the Austria Design Award 2015.
I am no expert, but the fact that sound spreads spherically makes ist seem logical that a sphere is the ideal shape for a speaker. And the same goes for the material: almost as hard as diamonds with very high density and almost vibration-free – it makes for the perfekt speaker casing. Everything else you better ask Ronni and Xiane, since they are much better at explaining all the technical details. I rather rave about how excited I was when I could hear the differences between the various speakers for the first time.
The ball speakers come with porcelain tripods or steel ring wall mounts, so they look and sound sexy anywhere, be in your office, your living room, or on your desk. Sound engineers like to use them in their studios. And even though they are quite small, they even fill very large rooms with rich and silky sound.
Apart from the speakers, the mo° sound store offers everything an audiophile heart desires, such as record players and sound systems by the famous Austrian manufacturer pro:ject, 1950s radios turned into docking stations, amplifiers made from vintage tins, pocket mixers, and accessories by Viennese creative labels.
If you want to come and listen, or would like to purchase a bespoke sound system expecially for you, and even if you just have a sound-related question – don’t hesitate to pay Xiane and Ronni a visit. Just bring enough time. Because here you can truly experience sound with all your senses.
