.How to get there
The view: Directly onto the ornate façade of St. Stephen's Cathedral. The panoramic view: Light-flooded rooms, elegant colours, clean lines. The frame that encloses this view: A small work of art. These works of art are made to measure in the company's own workshop. For over 40 years, the Erich Hartmann company has been providing fashion-conscious spectacle wearers with elegant eye jewellery.
Here, right in the city centre - in a cosy living room atmosphere - eyes are measured using the latest technology, individual wishes are discussed, and then glasses are custom-made. Erich Hartmann's unique selling point: artistic horn-rimmed glasses. Her father optimised the production, Veronika Hartmann explains, and passed on his knowledge to the next generation.
The glasses are handmade in the rustic workshop. All kinds of tools hang on the walls, and the raw material is stored on wooden shelves. The horn plates are cut to size using a milling machine. Then, the frame is polished by hand to shape and shine. Each piece is unique, as no two plates are alike, explains Veronika Hartmann. From classic horn-rimmed glasses to unusual models in various colours, everything is available.
In addition to the handmade horn-rimmed glasses, Erich Hartmann also offers models by selected designers. Also, horn jewellery and chic tableware. Everything that makes seeing, looking out and looking around more beautiful.
