Culture and culinary arts are two things, which not only enrich but also challenge each other. A new, beautiful place to celebrate both is the Frau im Mond Bar on the roof of Deutsches Museum.

While visitors inside the building can explore the world of science, technology and communication on four levels, a small oasis with an unobstructed view of the city awaits them on the top floor.

But it is not only the location that is attractive but also the drinks and food on offer in the Frau im Mond Bar. The bar offers an almost all-year-round 24/7 experience - from breakfast and brunch to lunch and coffee to dinner with a sundowner and live music by a DJ. And all this on 600 square metres of outdoor and 200 square metres of indoor space.

"With Frau im Mond Bar, we want to create a location for Munich residents and tourists that is cosy and simultaneously offers a unique view of the city," explains co-owner Alexander Recknagel.

The poetic-sounding name of the rooftop bar (Translated: Woman in the moon) comes from a science fiction silent movie from the 1920s. The rather plain, black-and-white interior, upgraded by colourful plastic chairs and casual leather sofas, is also inspired by this.

The menu is constantly expanding; so far, it features dishes made from regional, high-quality ingredients such as a ceviche of local Schliersee char, fries with truffle mayo and a fillet of beef.

In the afternoon, an English "Tea Time" menu is to follow, with special teas, petit fours, and scones served on étagères to delight both eyes and palate.

The Frau im Mond Bar will also remain open in winter. Then with a mulled wine stand and curling rink. What will remain is the excellent view of the museum district and the sparkling waters of the Isar - incredibly beautiful!
