.How to get there
Dressler Salon Munich has been located in the middle of beautiful Schwabing since celebrating its opening in January 2016. The golden letters on the door radiate with promise. I’ve hardly passed through them and I’m already hooked: high old-build ceilings, herringbone parquet, and a bright, airy interior draw me in immediately.
Fabian Dressler, owner of the hair salon, greets me warmly and introduces stylist Anna, who would be taking care of me for the next two hours. I’m not sold on blond foil highlights. I’d like a more natural look, but one slightly lighter than my natural colour for the summer.
We quickly come to an agreement: blond paintings, colour-suited to my lighter roots. The Dressler Salon Munich professionals believe this will create an especially natural result similar to the sunny highlights brought home from a long summer holiday.
I don’t want to take too much off the length, but I do want to change the shape of my cut. Anna takes care of that as well. My hair now falls much more nicely in soft layers, without having had to give up too much length.
After a hand check of my hair I receive an Olaplaex treatment, after which my hair actually feels significantly stronger and healthier.
After these wonderful results, I can check out Dressler Salon Munich in more detail. Together with architect Manual Benjamin Schachtner, the concept of a “connection between nature and modernity” has been transcribed in even the smallest details. Classic design and steel elements meet natural materials and create a tranquil, warm atmosphere.
It’s worth sparing a look upwards in the styling room, where the ceiling paintings discovered by Fabian and his team during renovations have been uncovered. The spacious hallway and washroom, in contrast, have been painted dark black. The calming effect of the “non-colour” hits quickly: I only manage to stay awake so that I can fully enjoy the shiatsu head massage!
But it’s not just the interior design that played a roll in the overarching concept of Dressler Salon Munich. Sustainability is very important to hairdressing master Fabian Dressler, which is why products from the natural hair care series by Kevin Murphy are used.
A natural, breathable limestone was used for the black walls. And “Scrummi”, eco-friendly, 100% recyclable one-use towels made from wood shavings, can be found in place of normal towels.
I notice that the modern concept with a love of detail isn’t just good for my hair. I head home fully relaxed, confident that this wasn’t my last time at Dressler Salon Munich!
