.How to get there
Surprises, however small, are part of life and make it exciting. So guests can expect a new culinary discovery at Hotel DO & CO in the heart of the old town, which will open at the end of 2021. Because of all things, between the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) with its iconic dome towers and the historic city hall, there is a fine Japanese restaurant.
The DO & Co Restaurant offers exciting sushi and grill specialities on the first floor of the five-star establishment of the same name, setting itself apart from the numerous Bavarian eateries around Marienplatz.
All dishes in the DO & CO restaurant are meant to be shared, and score points with perfect preparation and an appealing look. Especially recommended: The sashimi platter "on the rocks" and the green salad in an innovative sushi look with avocado, wasabi and an aromatic carrot-ginger-pumpkin seed oil dressing.
From the traditional Robata Grill - Japanese for fireplace - come cod pickled in miso, pork belly pralines or (our highlight!) lamb chops with aubergine tofu dip on the plates. All very successful! For vegetarians, there are half a dozen dishes - from corn on the cob with shiso, roasted sweet potato to green asparagus.
Everything is prepared in the open show kitchen, the focal point of the loft-like restaurant, which has a very modern design thanks to natural materials such as concrete and glass, as well as dark colours and high-quality, elegant furniture. Surprisingly different: the toilet on the second floor with leather-covered doors and marble fittings.
Another notable feature of the experience gastronomy in the DO & CO restaurant: on weekends, a DJ plays, and even when the temperatures are not so warm, you can dine on the beautiful large terrace (thanks to underfloor heating!) and watch the hustle and bustle in the pedestrian zone between the Frauenkirche and the town hall.
And the building itself, which houses the restaurant, is also out of the norm. For example, the outer façade is adorned with a multi-coloured plaster relief (sgraffito) with the image of the former fashionable old building that stood there. Inside, in turn, is the three-storey FC Bayern World store, which has a connecting door to the hotel on the ground floor - after all, the DO & CO operators are also responsible for all the catering operations in the Allianz Arena.
The audience in the restaurant, however, does not consist of football players and their fans, but of discerning young foodies, hotel guests and business people. Thus, the interior and culinary concept aims to appeal to a cosmopolitan audience. This succeeds thanks to the excellent food and beverage advice from the charming, international staff, most of whom speak English - and spread a pleasant, lively urban atmosphere in the DO & CO restaurant.
