From pillows to pyjamas: the Munich-based specialist shop Bettenrid has been known for over 100 years for its professional advice on healthy, sound sleep. The newly renovated flagship store in the heart of Munich now boasts an elegant new look, exclusive brands and a personal shopping lounge.
Our night's sleep is often like a first date. Sometimes, it goes really well and we feel like we're on cloud nine afterwards. Occasionally, we count the minutes and hope it's finally time to get up.
However, unlike on a date, there are many ways to positively influence your sleep. The experts at the Munich-based specialist shop Bettenrid know what these are. A traditional store with top advice and more than 20,000 product variants in its quality range - from box spring beds, pillows and duvets to home and living products.
The company's centrepiece is the newly designed flagship store in Munich's Theatinerstraße. Across an area of 1,900 square metres and four floors, customers can experience excellent service and high-quality brands such as Christian Fischbacher, Schlossberg and Graser. The store's own brands, such as Rid Essentials and Rid Selection, are also part of the portfolio.

"The individual sleeping needs of our customers take centre stage for us. The aim of providing the best advice and customised sleep systems is what drives our thoughts and actions every day," explains Bettenrid Managing Director Robert Waloßek.
The individual products are presented in the new Bettenrid store in a stylish and modern ambience reminiscent of a chic old Munich flat. Elegant design elements made of stucco, wood, brass and marble can be found as well as a lift from 1978, which impresses with retro details such as a gold-coloured ashtray.
In cooperation with umdasch The Store Makers, an exceptional shopping experience has been created that reflects Bettenrid's successful combination of tradition and modernity.
Customers can make themselves comfortable in the new stylish Rosa's Lounge for personal shopping needs. The café bar was named after Bettenrid's founder, Rosa Zaininger, and is located on the shop's first floor - with a wonderfully unobstructed view of Munich's lively city centre.
Equally unique: the manufacturing service in the flagship store. It enables customised filling for pillows and duvets, tailored to personal requirements. There is also a sewing workshop with an embroidery service to personalise products, an area for younger guests with children's products, and a "Frau Holle listening station".
The basement is dedicated to the themes of "Sleeping like in a hotel" and "Healthy sleep". Exclusive, high-quality box-spring beds from companies such as Schramm, Vispring and Carpe Diem can be purchased there, as well as ergonomic mattresses, slatted frames and slat bases - including testbeds!
The Hästens Store Munich, which Bettenrid operates as a mono-brand area and which presents the entire range of the renowned Swedish premium bed manufacturer, is also part of the bed expertise.
Another speciality of the professional shop is regular, free in-house events on healthy sleep. "We see Bettenrid as a holistic brand and therefore regularly organise events such as the Sleep and Health Weeks, which will take place for the fifth time in January 2024," reports Managing Director Robert Waloßek. The programme includes lectures and workshops by experienced doctors, health experts and authors.
