.How to get there
There are places that make you want to move in, that's how cosy and friendly they seem. The Benvido Café in Schwabing is such a candidate.
Plenty of plants, expansive armchairs with chic boho cushions, seating niches by the window and rattan lamps on the ceiling make the place a feel-good spot - similar to the living room of your best friend or a friendly neighbour, where you can also enjoy homemade cakes, exceptional wines and fine food.
On the one hand, there are the sumptuous sandwiches from Munich cult baker Julius Brantner (from 10 euros) as well as homemade spreads, including flatbread and daily changing salads (11.50 euros). On the other hand, the menu features lovingly curated "little things" from the region and Europe. For example, sardines from France, organic crisps from Madrid and crispy pretzel pieces from the Viktualienmarkt.
And last but not least, Benvido offers a deluxe cake selection - from banana bread and chocolate brownie to apfelschmand and carrot cake (3.80 euros each). "Please everything once!" you want to shout at the latest when you hear that, depending on the season, some ingredients come from Benvido co-owner Marko Ressel's grandma's home garden.
His partner Theresa Prahl opened the restaurant in the summer of 2021 as a successful mix of café and vinotheque. So there are 50 different bottles on the menu, a good dozen of which are modern orange wines. This is a white wine, but it is made like red wine. That is how the characteristic orange colour of the wine is created - and a first-class taste.
With Benvido, founder Theresa Prahl fulfilled a lifelong dream. One in which you want to spend your whole day, from breakfast to aperitif.
