Loewen
Eppendorfer Weg 264
20251 Hamburg-Eppendorf
.How to get there
The Loewen has existed for over 15 years. So you could call it an institution. In the winter of 2022, Malvin Ullmann and Johann Jencquel took over the helm at the small Eppendorf pub. After the premises were lovingly and tastefully renovated and modernised, the doors of the Loewen have been open to friends of good food in a neighbourly atmosphere since January 2023.
The shop is dominated by warm red tones and light wood. The furniture is simple, functional and elegant. A small bar and raised seats by the windows in the bar area invite you to have a drink or two with a view of the colourful hustle and bustle of Eppendorfer Weg.
While the restaurant's interior has 18 seats, on warm days, over 80 seats on the terrace attract sun-loving gourmets to the Loewen.
The two operators of the Loewen are no newcomers to the restaurant business. They have been running the Edelsatt restaurant in Winterhude quite successfully since 2016. There, the two restaurateurs serve game dishes together with their team. However, the new opening in Eppendorfer Weg comes up with a different concept: Regional cuisine, selected wines and an in-house cheese selection are on the menu.
Seasonal and regional cuisine is offered in small and larger formats. In addition, guests can brunch extensively at the weekend and indulge in delicacies such as Eggs Benedict, tartare, oysters or caviar.
The classic menu features wild oysters and venison tartare. The evening menu features a catch of the day and a choice of meats from the Edelsatt market cart. Preferably game meat, because for Malvin Ullmann and Johann Jencquel, that is the best way to consume meat in a particularly sustainable and healthy way.
