Jewelberry A Guaranteed Dose of Fairy Dust

I am happy to announce that I stumbled upon an actual fairy forest! It’s located right on Juliusstraße 13 in the very heart of Hamburg’s Schanzenviertel. It was a grey rainy day when I first entered the little jewellery shop but the sun rose again for me when I saw the birch trunks that adorn the inside of this magical place. Jewellery everywhere, delicate necklaces, earrings and bracelets hung up on the white bark, staged on old frames, mirrors and vintage furniture - it’s a fairytale scenery! Stars, hearts, tender leafs and dragonflies huddle against sparkly gemstones.

Margaret Turtureanu & Lily Sielaff are the head fairies. All of those romantic pieces of jewellery are born in their minds. Everything is handmade with love and attention by young mothers, high school and college students. The partly limited jewellery collections are available in Munich since 2008 and fortunately found their way to Hamburg in 2011. And those who get there after closing hour can still purchase a lucky charm bracelet at one of the Jewelberry vending machines just outside the store.

And for the individualists among you: the gilded and silvered charms can be customized as well!

There is such a wide range of jewellery though that I could hardly decide what to buy. And while I originally went to get a little present for my friend, I came out bewitched, with a new necklace and bracelet for myself in hand. So beware: fairy land is highly addictive!
