If you want to have the taste of a traditional Danish lunch with open sandwiches and ‘pariser bøf’ - Parisian beef - you have to stop by Restaurant Amalie. The small petite restaurant is situated just a block away from Amalienborg – the Queens castle.

When I had friends visiting from South Africa this summer we went to Restaurant Amalie to enjoy a lunch outside and while we where enjoying our meal the crown prince casually walked by our table.

In spring and summer you can enjoy your meal outside the restaurant but in the colder months of the year it’s cozy and full of atmosphere to sit inside the restaurant that dates back to 1755. This place does not only serve amazing lunches but the location and the beautiful old building definitely makes this place worth a visit if you like to try a traditional Danish lunch.

PS. I can not guarantee any royals passing by your table but I promise you will get royal treatment at the restaurant!
