ZOO PALAST Berlin
Hardenbergstraße 29A
10623 Berlin-Charlottenburg
.How to get there
Right next to the station Zoologischer Garten in the centre of West-Berlin the Zoo Palast was built in 1957 and quickly developed to be the most important cinema in Berlin and the home of Berlinale. Big film premieres took place in Zoo Palast over the last decades, with famous national and international actors and actresses, from James Stewart, Sophia Loren and Romy Schneider to Josie Foster, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.
Thanks to a widespread modernisation the Zoo Palast is back today, shining like a new star. The biggest room that used to have almost 1.200 seats was reduced by 400 seats to guarantee more comfort and space. The impressive ceiling with countless light effects was kept as well as the original wall covering and the giant heavy curtain with the traditional waterfall effect.
Despite the modern technology little of the fifties charm was lost. Solely in the smaller rooms there have been visible changes. Ever since there are special premium seats with on-place service and modern sound systems. A piece of Berlin history has been brought back to life!
