We seem to be preaching to the choir when we emphasise how important and beautiful it is to support genuine handicrafts from small manufacturers. An excellent opportunity to do so is at The Roadshow, an exclusive sales event at Löwenpalais from the 21st to the 23rd of March. 16 carefully curated labels from the fields of fashion, accessories, jewellery and interior design will present their wares there.

For example, there are hand-embroidered bed linen made of the finest Egyptian cotton, as well as hand-embroidered linen tablecloths by Malaika Linens. The goods are worked in Egypt by refugee and socially disadvantaged women who are also trained in Malaika's own embroidery school and thus given a new perspective.

Unfortunately, hat-making is a profession that is still rarely practised. Here, manual work pays off all the more. This is the case with the noble headgear of the Hamburg milliner Elke Martensen, who has already worked with fashion greats such as Joop, Anouschka Hempel, Beatrice Hypendahl and especially closely with Jil Sander during her many years of creative work. Each of her hats is unique and handmade in her studio.

The travel bags and riding accessories by Carlitos are also handmade. The multi-award-winning manufacturer produces mainly in its own factory and in selected Polish master workshops. As a partner of Ella Fogg, we are particularly taken with the discreetly colourful luggage. From the fabulous handbags to the backpacks, it's an elegant way to travel towards the sun.

The Roadshow offers these and many other exhibitors, from slow fashion by mysweetdreamfactory to traditionally crafted leather goods by Ellabee and individual designer jewellery by Gräfin Waldersee.

We would also like to make a special mention of the charitable initiative A Pencil for Everyone, of whose pencils, pads, sets and soaps one counterpart per copy sold goes directly to children in developing countries, or a sum of money is donated to their own educational projects in five countries in Africa and Asia.

So a visit to The Roadshow at Löwenpalais is worthwhile for the range of handmade goods alone. And since the beautiful event location is on Lake Diana in Grunewald, a visit can be pleasantly combined with a walk.
