.How to get there
In a glass box in the middle of Markthalle Neun you will find the best Italian bread this city has to offer, being made fresh from scratch right before your eyes. Alfredo Sironi and his team have been displaying their baker’s craft since last August. You can see them as they knead the dough, put their bread into shape, and finally take out one steaming hot loaf after the other. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, crossed by those typical big bubbles of air. It’s the purest dream come true, almost unbearable with some olive oil and coarse salt drizzled onto it.
However, there’s a whole lot more going on in the see-through backery box: sweet rolls coated with coarse sugar, savory focaccia sandwiches, homemade deliciously-smelling pizza and other mouth-watering pastry. And while my friend was gushing over her piece of Italian flatbread with mozzarella and tomato, I could not stop eyeing the deliciousness laid out behind the display. The supreme quality of Sironi’s products really is visible! The semolina loaf that we chose to take home was just as scrumptious on the third day as it was on the first, and we were truly impressed.
