.How to get there
There’s a graceful connection between old and new at restaurant Villa Kellermann at Heiligen See in Potsdam. Here, three rooms designed in entirely different ways confidently flow together: The Elephant Room, Alter Fritz, and Grüner Salon. Flirting with one another from across the room, they don’t exactly make it easy to choose one interior over the other. The view of the new garden just opposite is a dream.
Wallpaper, materials, and accessories were boldly combined by the renowned architect Ester Bruzkus, leaving plenty to be discovered. The culinary concept spearheaded by top chef Tim Raue combines tradition and modernity to perfection. Modernised classics of German cuisine, like ‘Eisbein’ (pork knuckle) with sauerkraut, ‘Königsberger Klopse’ (meatballs) with mashed potatoes, or black pudding, are elegantly plated on antique plates.
Truly everything at Villa Kellermann is harmoniously combined and realised to perfection. Like the Eisbein suckling pig, which is briefly fried before being served to loosen the meat from the bone. The airy Königsberger Klopse with beetroot apple salad, sweet wine sauce, and mashed potatoes are served with a similar lightness, toppling over one another on a nostalgic, floral plate.
