Regent Berlin A Night of Luxury on Gendarmenmarkt
It is Sunday morning at Regent Berlin. I’m lying in bed, a gigantic one with a dark wooden curved bedhead. The opulent flower curtains are pulled open and reveal a panoramic view over Gendarmenmarkt and the French Dome. The walls are drenched in a subtle yellow, the air conditioning makes for quiet white noise in the background reminiscing of a distant waterfall. I don’t ever want to get up, I could imagine just laying there observing the buzz of the public outside throughout the day.
The marble bathroom offers everything from cotton pads and Q-tips, care products by L'Occitan of France to fluffy bathrobes in the style of Pretty Woman. The toilet is separate und I notice that what I miss most about modern bathrooms is this possibility to really be by yourself for even just a minute.
Last night we had dinner at the bar and felt a little bit of a marine 'Titanic' flair. That is how I imagine it to have looked like back then: loads of dark wood, classic furniture, comforting. The hotel classics – the Club Sandwich and the Caesar's Salad – were mouth-watering and proved that the cuisine at star-studded Fischers Fritz knows how to do even the simplest things better than most.

After taking a night stroll through Gendarmenmarkt and the streets that surround us, it almost felt like coming home. The lush floral bouquet by the reception, elegantly dressed women in the lobby, anyone could get used to that. Even for me, a lover of minimalist interiors, this is a trip into a whole different world worth taking.
The hours went by fast, unfortunately, and we checked out. But we were more than happy to know that we can come back for a dinner at Fischers Fritz or a drink at the Summer Lounge any time we please!
