Princess Cheesecake
Knesebeckstraße 32
10623 Berlin-Charlottenburg
.How to get there
My heart begins to beat. Makes tiny cartwheels. Feels ecstatic. Just one look at the minimalist display of Princess Cheesecake on Knesebeckstrasse gives me an overwhelming surge of happiness. The land of milk and honey beneath a sheath of glass. Pies, cakes and tartlets lined up in perfect constellation, whispering: “take me!”
How to decide? I’ve never seen classic German cheesecakes this tall. Traditional New York cheesecake. Fruity creations. Chocolatey things. There are even vegan pies, made entirely without quark, cream cheese and cream, giving their competitors a run for their money.
After Princess Cheesecake opened in Mitte in 2011, West Berlin now too has a branch. Fresh and high-end ingredients have always made the difference here. A freshly-beaten egg, a freshly-cracked nut as well as sustainable chocolate that’s produced with care, just taste better.
Especially quark has a lot of positive attributes. It makes sure that you never leave Princess Cheesecake feeling stuffed. To accommodate everyone’s preferences, there are also varying levels of sweetness. Next to a mild dose of brown sugar, agave syrup or hone are also used.
Decoration is done solely with fruit, flowers and other natural products. Cream, vanilla, quark – every ingredient can be deciphered. "Our cakes are a sensory experience. They nurture the soul. For everyone in their own way," says owner Conny Suhr.
But taste isn’t her only focus. There’s an attentiveness in how she treats her employees and her guests, and fair trade and sustainability are also close to her heart. The interior, designed by Berlin architects at Studio Karhard, is therefore entirely European. A true feel-good spot!
