Greek Delicious Greek delicatessen in Charlottenburg

It all began 25 years ago with a delicious variety of Greek almonds. The founder initially sold them exclusively at Berlin markets until she opened the Philomenis Greek Delicious shop in Knesebeckstraße in 1998 due to its unexpectedly great success.

A lot has changed since then: the founder has retired from the business, and the delicatessen, restaurant and café now bears the name Greek Delicious. The range now includes more than just a variety of nuts and dried fruit.

At lunchtime, the many regulars come especially for the Mediterranean and nutritious selection on the glass counter: Greek giant white beans, tasty nut roast, delicious meatballs and - a particular favourite - the Greek lemon chicken. The moussaka and the flaky, oily, super crispy spanakopita with homemade puff pastry, spinach, and feta filling are also delicious.

A visit to Greek Delicious in the afternoon for coffee is also worthwhile, thanks to the delicious and freshly baked pastries. Fresh millefeuilles, fluffy and creamy hussar cake or delicious chocolate-coated nuts and dried fruit tempt you into the charming little bistro area or, when the weather is nice, onto the sweet terrace reminiscent of a small front garden.

In addition to various specialities to be eaten on the spot, the red lacquered shelves contain various delicacies from the Mediterranean region straight from the kitchen at the back or from tiny manufactories. With exceptional Greek wines, delicious sour cherry amaretti and shortbread with pistachios or the classic, succulent nut cake made entirely without flour, the choice is extremely difficult.

These days, Greek Delicious can only be found on the market on Saturdays at Karl-August-Platz. Some bestsellers are always on offer, such as fruity olive oil, fine honey from Crete and some exquisite cakes and quiches.
