.How to get there
The cheerful yellow umbrellas and tables of the breakfast café Oeuf on Nettelbeckenplatz in Wedding shine brightly. Here, the colour of the sun symbolises not only cheerfulness and lightness but also the yellow of the egg, which is definitely understood proverbially as well. After all, the sweet brunch café already bears the latter in its name: Oeuf - French for the egg.
And with that, what you can find on the clearly laid out brunch menu: Egg dishes, of course. You can have it prepared and served in your favourite way with a brioche, sourdough bread or croissant (also available at the French-inspired café). In addition, Oeuf offers several other exciting and tasty brunch dishes such as sandwiches, croques and cakes.
In view of the buttery, shiny brioche buns that find our table after ordering the Oeuf Morning, the breakfast café could just as well be called "beurre" - which in principle automatically equates to "delicious". On top, there is spicy shallot compote, melted cheese, homemade ketchup and - of course - a fried egg. Sunny side up, of course. We add a bit of bacon and recommend that you do the same and have a delicious breakfast burger.
Also on the menu is Le Christiane, which bears the name of co-owner Damien's grandmother, as the homemade fish terrine is prepared according to her recipe. Damien and his companions all come from France and bring a bit of French savoir-manger to Wedding without sticking too closely to common clichés.
But there is one thing that is somehow a must: Ouef also offers a few selected wines. The natural wines from small French wineries can also be taken home. If that's not decadent and colourful enough for breakfast, add a frozé (iced rosé with strawberries) or a delicious frozen margarita to your brunch. Simply because: why not?
And while you're at it, don't miss the sweet treat of French toast, which is honestly more like a piece of cake. It's served with different fruits depending on the season; we got apricot with rosemary, amaretto mascarpone and toasted almonds. So delicious! Familiar, cosy, delicious, that's how we praise a morning at Wedding - it brings a bit of sunshine even into gloomy autumn days.
