Luisa Feinkost
Danziger Straße 49
10435 Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg
.How to get there
LuisaKocht reads the signage on the window, the delicatessen belonging to Luisa Giannitti on Prenzlauer Berg’s Danziger Strasse. Those who climb the three little steps will find themselves in a world of temptations, filled with unique products from the owner and author’s hometown.
Behind the retail area with its integrated pasta-making factory is the kitchen, where Luisa Giannitti and her team are continuously creating delicious caterings, crisp focaccia, fresh pasta sauces and plenty more. The smell alone is enough to bring customers at LuisaKocht a little closer to southern Italy.
Luisa Giannitti has already been living in Berlin for over ten years, and after opening LuisaKocht she finally has a slice of her home with her. The opening took place last summer. Ever since, only the best culinary treasures that southern Italy has to offer are stocked in the unusually pretty shop.
Bright shelves are lined with olive oils, beautiful pestos and preserved vegetables, or even dried pasta, risotto blends and countless truffle products. On the sweet side, find cantuccini, jams and rare citrus honey. In the refrigerated area, you’ll also uncover unusual cheeses, fresh salsiccia out of Naples and even pork cheek for carbonara.
On wooden tables sitting on top of wheeled trolleys, oils, wild boar salami and appetizing hard cheeses wait to be tasted. There are seasonal vegetables, fresh pasta with homemade sauces as takeaways as well as baked goods.
The undisputed bestseller, though, is the pizza dough, which you can buy as part of a baking set at LuisaKocht, or just as ready prepared dough. When you bring it home, all you have to do is roll it out, top with your favourite ingredients and place it in the oven.
