A movie theatre that is worth a visit only for its history! The Kino International was built in the sixties in GDR and is with its retro chic still a beautiful addition to Karl-Marx-Allee. The former premiere house was a showpiece building of socialist architecture and is surprisingly airy, which isn’t very usual for that time.
Next to interesting architecture the main highlight are the films! The "International" is part of the Yorck-Group, which operates several independent cinemas in Berlin, and has developed into a movie theatre with a sophisticated programme. A part of the Berlinale award presentation is held here, making the cinema an important venue.
Visitors that are not into films and cinemas can explore the Panoramabar on the first floor and try their cocktails or discover the clubs and bars in the back of the building.
