If you were looking for gluten-free bakeries, cafés and restaurants ten years ago, you would have had a hard time even in the absolute foodie paradise Berlin. Whereas a few years ago, a single gluten-free loaf of bread or a gluten-free dish - no matter how mediocre - was reason enough to be happy, our expectations and the range of options have grown considerably since then. So here are our personal favourite gluten-free places in Berlin - from bakeries and cafés to Michelin-starred restaurants!

Click on the orange marked names to find out more about the individual locations!

Oshione

From the market stall at the Kollwitz weekly market to the glass display in their own bakery, Oshione's gluten-free delicacies have come a long way in recent years. And the moist banana bread, gluten-free from the beginning, has now been joined by a whole range of gluten-free - and often vegan - delicacies. There are sourdough breads, pizza buns, seasonal muffins, various cakes and granolas. We can particularly recommend the stunning cinnamon buns.

Aera

Its reputation precedes the crispy sourdough bread from Aera to Japan and the United States. So, of course, the gluten-free bakery should not be missing from our list. In addition to the legendary sourdough bread, there is also a wonderful selection of sourdough brioche or variations such as "Grains & Seeds" with crushed lupins, poppy seeds, linseed, gluten-free oats and a pinch of fenugreek or "Beetroot" with slightly sweet flavour and roasted pine nuts. Another real highlight is the small selection of wonderfully puristic biscuits: don't miss the sesame biscuits with miso or the oat cookie with dates!

Partenope 081

Italy - heavenly food, but thanks to pizza, pasta and the like, it is also the absolute nemesis for all those who live gluten-free. To make your next pizza evening a little more inclusive, we present Partenope 081. Here, you can enjoy traditional Neapolitan pizza from the imported stone oven and all kinds of other Neapolitan specialities. In addition to a delicious selection of gluten-free pizzas, there are also antipasti, pasta, risotto and much more in gluten-free versions.

Two Trick Pony

In Bergmannstraße in Kreuzberg, Two Trick Pony serves a wonderfully sumptuous British-inspired breakfast and brunch. It may not sound gluten-free friendly at first, but all dishes - including the delicious English breakfast - can be ordered as a gluten-free option with bread from Aera. The food is also regional and seasonal; there are delicious vegetarian and vegan options, and the menu changes regularly.

Bonvivant

The Bonvivant is a culinary all-rounder. Besides its Michelin-starred vegetarian fine dining and creative drinks, it has recently added a more "down-to-earth" flank. An excellent brunch is served in Schöneberg from Wednesday to Sunday. In addition to fine beverages - perfect for day drinking - the brunch selection is awe-inspiring - we are particularly impressed by the green shakshuka. Best of all, most of the dishes are also gluten-free. Gluten-free brunch in a Michelin-starred restaurant; what more could you want!

Sets

A veritable splendour of brunch and breakfast specialities has been available at Sets in Charlottenburg since 2009. The generously filled and customisable étagères are the centrepiece of the concept - and also a real visual highlight - but the topped sourdough bread, various egg dishes (including vegan), hearty bowls and delicious waffles are also outstanding. The best thing is that all dishes are also served with gluten-free bread from Aera.

Simela

Pizza is always a good choice: at lunchtime, in the evening, to take away or in a restaurant, alone or with friends and at Simela in Charlottenburg and Mitte, with or without gluten. Whether classic Margherita, vegetarian or with spicy salami, Simela's gluten-free pizzas are baked on a deliciously crispy buckwheat base. Pasta, desserts and co. are also available here in gluten-free versions.

Jute Bäckerei

At first glance, the Jute Bakery looks like a traditional bakery. But this impression is deceptive because each of the wonderfully fragrant breads, rolls and sweet baked goods are gluten-free. Instead of conventional flour, the crispy delicacies are baked using buckwheat, rice, corn, millet, teff, potato and chestnut flour. And instead of a small gluten-free corner, the entire display awaits you. All ingredients meet the highest organic and Demeter standards - after all, high-quality ingredients are needed for high-quality products.

Daluma

From light breakfasts and nutritious lunches to healthy snacks for in-between meals, Daluma has everything a healthy foodie could wish for. Fresh cold-pressed juices and smoothies. Stacked next to them are transparent bowls of salads or "basic components" made from pasta, quinoa and lentils that can be freely combined with various toppings such as almond-lime, herbs or tomato. The focus is on healthy dishes that are as natural and wholesome as possible. So it's no wonder there is also a broad and excellent range of delicious gluten-free dishes.
