This venue is truly mind-blowing. An aged-looking bar charming with its industrial flair, ceilings seeming five metres high with stucco and peeling plaster, and plants that almost look as if they are gradually reclaiming the old Pfefferberg brewery walls with their industry furniture. It's almost reminiscent of Casco Viejo in Panama City - especially when the weather is as tropical as it is at the moment.

The Frank Café in Prenzlauer Berg is a little urban jungle in the middle of the big city, making it the perfect space for a relaxed lunch, a coffee and cake in the afternoon, or even to casually start the German “Feierabend“. Here at Pfefferberg, the extremely charming service not only provides the city dwellers with crispy sandwiches and daily changing lunch dishes influenced from all over the world, but also cocktails are on the menu.

The Frank Café's juice concept deserves a special mention here, as it goes far beyond the classic fresh OJ: fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices are blended, creating fruity and spicy drinks that are good for body and soul. If required, they can also be spiced up with vodka, mezcal, gin or rum. And since we're already ringing in the weekend during our visit, we spice up our "Dirty Harry" made of cucumber juice, dill, celery and horseradish with a shot of mezcal.

In addition to alternating lunches and mentioned juices, Frank also offers an unusual variety of creative ice creams, as well as excellent coffee and grandiose patisserie. Since the view towards the Schönhauser Allee through the high arcade windows makes everything even more picturesque, the lunch break at Frank may take a little longer. But that's not a problem, as the evening holds the opportunity of ordering drinks at the Kink Bar. We'll make a note of that for our next visit. And to eat more of the outstanding lemon tarts, which we are still chatting about on the way home.
