Der Fischladen
Schönhauser Allee 128
10437 Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg
.How to get there
A friend of mine asked me to join her for the little restaurant on Schönhauser Allee. I grew up near the Baltic Sea spoiled with anything seafood-related, so I was sceptical at first.
But Der Fischladen proved me wrong and turned out to be a sure thing. With a neglectable interior, the focus should be on what's being served: it all tastes just the way fish should taste. Fish&Chips resemble those in London, the Bouillabaisse tastes French and the plaice with roast potatoes tastes as homey as mom's.
The latter one is to be taken literally, by the way, because the chef is a woman straight out of a fairy-tale. Whenever she finds the time, she brings out the food herself, taps your shoulder and asks if everything is to your pleasing. On weekdays, they serve daily lunch variations and it's super hard to get ahold of a table.
Apart from the seafood dishes, their many different burgers come in nicely too and the fries are among the city's best!
Watch out for Fischladen in Armenius Markthalle in Moabit, too.
