I don't know how many times I've walked past the enormous crocodile in the lobby of the Hotel Stue. On the way to breakfast, on the way to the Susanne Kaufmann Spa or the many times in the evening to the bar, which is definitely one of the most beautiful and stylish in the city. Today, however, I am checking in for the first time as an overnight guest. Naturally, anticipation accompanies me and I am curious about what it will be like to stay in one of the beautiful rooms.
During a tour of the house more than two years ago, I had already seen some of the rooms and was particularly impressed by a "Stue room" with a zoo view. I was really taken with the stylishly furnished room with its floor-to-ceiling windows. The light, the view. Waking up there in the morning was simply a dream.
One of those rooms didn't turn out to be today, and I can't entirely suppress a certain disappointment about that at first. But the rooms facing the zoo also have great charm, so I don't let my enthusiasm get the better of me and start exploring the room.
A box spring bed of gigantic dimensions. Design classics as seating furniture. Well-thought-out built-in furniture that conceals, among other things, the well-stocked minibar and even a snack bar. A Mac screen that doubles as a television, workstation and access to the virtual world. All harmoniously colour-coordinated. Cosy. Cosy. I arrive.
All woman, I first settle into the bathroom. A large mirrored sliding wall separates the room from the sleeping area and can be opened or closed as desired. Besides body care by FLORIS from London, a mouthwash and lip balm by Gilchrist & Soames are ready at the sink. Natural wood floorboards on the floor, the "Parrot Hang" coat hook by Lladro, which I had already admired once at Dopo Domani, on the wall.
My belongings disappear into cupboards and shelves, and it's as if I had never lived elsewhere. Whereas, on closer inspection... At home, no one had ever brought me a new tube of toothpaste when I forgot to get it. But here: no problem! Just press 9, and less than 10 minutes later, room service is at the door and brings it straight to the room.
Breakfast in the morning is a bit bumpy, but the beautiful ambience, the very nice service and the rich offer make up for any mishap in the kitchen. I enjoy my omelette with herbs, study the newspaper and let my eyes wander over the beautiful interior.
The rain is pelting down on the roof above me, and I would like to crawl right back into the wonderfully large and fabulously cosy bed upstairs on the third floor, which was such a great place to sleep last night. But it's almost 12, and time to check out. But as much as I don't want to leave, the certainty that I will definitely be back makes me leave the hotel quite relaxed... Hello Berlin! Here I am again!
