There really are people who don't like breakfast and can't finish a bite early in the morning - we're definitely not one of them. For us, there is hardly anything better than a relaxed breakfast or brunch with Bircher muesli, pancakes or waffles.
Or for lovers of savoury brunch classics: the sight of golden egg yolk running out of perfect Eggs Benedict, a fluffy scrambled egg or other delicious and creative breakfast creations that have become indispensable in Berlin.
So, where we particularly like to fortify ourselves for the day ahead with delicious French toast, healthy and fruity bowls or egg dishes en masse, we reveal to you - without any ranking! - in the following list...

Probably the finest breakfast in Berlin is served at Frühstück 3000, which recently opened another location in Kreuzberg in addition to the restaurant in Schöneberg. But no matter where and when, the exquisite brunch creations at Frühstück 3000 always delight. There's the "Chicken 3000", for example: a cheddar waffle with crispy chicken and delicious chilli-bacon caramel, or the heavenly French toast for those who prefer it sweet. It's no wonder that breakfast here sometimes lasts well into the afternoon.

The Bonvivant cocktail bar not only serves fantastic drinks but also a fabulous brunch that is just as impressive as the elegant ambience of this Schöneberg institution. You can savour Bonvivant classics such as Eggs Benedict or the famous tomato bread from Wednesday to Sunday. Yet, the creative and purely vegetarian brunch menu also includes new creations, such as green shakshuka, which particularly impressed us. If you still have room in your stomach, you can enjoy a pancake with caramel filling served in a cast-iron pan. The motto is: "No shame in daytime drinking"...

On Bergmannstraße in Kreuzberg, Two Trick Pony serves wonderfully sumptuous, British-inspired breakfasts and brunches. Everything has been thought of here for the perfect morning treat. All dishes can be ordered as a gluten-free option with bread from Aera, there are delicious vegetarian and vegan options, and everything is seasonal and regional, so the menu changes regularly. There's never a dull moment here. We can also recommend a fine aperitif, such as the grapefruit prosecco, to accompany your British breakfast in the afternoon.

At Rocket + Basil in Tiergarten, we immerse ourselves in the beautiful world of Persian cuisine. In addition to traditional Persian dishes, such as delicious stews, there is a wonderful mix of international delicacies with a Persian influence. While there is a variety of lunch dishes during the week, on Saturdays and Sundays, the café transforms into an excellent brunch café and the perfect place to celebrate a weekend breakfast.

Opened in spring 2023, the Kreuzberg breakfast restaurant on Engelbecken is a ray of hope in the Kotti neighbourhood. Quite literally, because the spacious, bright interior with its many plants and individual splashes of colour resembles a small oasis. The menu includes various breakfast and brunch dishes - always vegan, but with eggs on request - and a wide range of cake creations.

A place where you can't go wrong when it comes to breakfast. 24 hours a day, you really can get everything you imagine to start (or end) the day. The sweet and savoury creations are internationally inspired, from what are probably the thickest and fluffiest pancakes in town to the knuckle of pork sandwiches or opulent arrangements. Bread, rolls & co. come from the in-house bakery.

In addition to the wonderful "Eggs Florentine" and their variations, countless other egg dishes, homemade muesli, fresh green smoothies, fantastic waffles, pancakes and perfect coffee, the Spindler's beautiful interior and insanely friendly service are particularly appealing for an extended breakfast. The weekend brunch also offers egg specials such as "Full English" and platters with the most delicious sausage and cheese specialities.

Like the Frea Restaurant, the Frea Bakery cooks and bakes in a sustainable, animal-free and waste-avoiding way. The results are indeed something to be seen and tasted: crispy croissants, fluffy brioche, oily and shiny focaccia, and deliciously topped sourdough rolls. The Frea Bakery is a lovely place to have breakfast, because besides the delicious range of baked goods, there are some favourite breakfast classics such as porridge or various breakfast plates. All vegan, of course.

Unwind in a former chapel and start the day with a delicious breakfast in peace and quiet at 21 Gramm in Neukölln. Tasty drinks and delicacies from the small brunch menu are served in the beautiful inner courtyard or under an impressive vaulted ceiling. For example, there are buttermilk pancakes with rhubarb, whipped cream cheese and pistachio quinoa crunch or a sourdough roll with sumac tahini, beluga lentils, Swiss chard and poached egg - simply heavenly!

The café in the Gropius Bau is shielded from the outside world and, therefore, perfect for grey winter days. Here, a collaboration between Cynthia Barcomi and Shani Leiderman brings life to the breakfast table. For an all-day breakfast, for example, it sounds like this: "Challah French toast" with crème fraîche, tomato salsa, spicy green sauce and black olives. Barcomi's delicious bagels with butter and pumpkin jam are sweet.

The heavenly bagels that Cynthia Barcomi serves alongside excellent, typically American baked goods in Kreuzberg are served with spreads such as creamy cream cheese, savoury bean puree or peanut butter and homemade jam. The delicious sandwiches are lavishly topped and among the city's best. You should try one of the warm cinnamon rolls with ice-cold butter or one of the sinful cakes for which the "Baking Queen" is so famous. For those who can't decide: There are tasting plates with four half slices to choose from! The coffee has been coming from their own roastery for over 25 years.

The minimalist retro charm of the interior here in Friedrichshain reflects the honest ingredients of the down-to-earth and beautifully presented dishes. The farmer's breakfast turns out to be a "tortilla de patatas" with pickled gherkins and salad, while the "Stramme Max" comes with two poached eggs and delicious bacon from the Berlin nose-to-tail butchery Kumpel & Keule. The excellent sourdough bread, which basically plays a role in every dish here, is baked in-house and makes creations like the "Henriks" with buffalo mozzarella, Serrano ham, mangetout, peas, sun-dried tomatoes and parmesan really complete the dish. And all week long, from early to late.

In principle, Sorrel is typical of the current catering scene in Neukölln: creative, contemporary and that certain Neukölln hipster nonchalance. However, this does not detract from the great brunch in the really pretty corner shop in Pannierstraße. The menu changes regularly, demonstrating the versatility of a food that still rests far too often on scrambled eggs and pancakes. Breakfast can also be: smoked fish, egg yolk, potatoes or - always good - croque madame. French toast with rum and cream can prevail forever. Here you can stay until lunch.

Not far from Savignyplatz in Charlottenburg, the probably most sumptuous sourdough sandwiches in the city are served. All the ingredients - apart from the bread from Zeit für Brot - are prepared fresh daily in the restaurant's own kitchen. The finest ham and cheese are sliced à la minute. There are also excellent homemade spreads, dressings, salads, grilled vegetables, and many other delicious things, from home-marinated salmon to egg dishes. For those who prefer a less savoury breakfast: there are, of course, also plenty of sweet breakfast classics, such as French toast, overnight oats and excellent, wonderfully fluffy pancakes made by their own recipe.
