The Brandenburg Gate is known as the most famous landmark in Berlin. Most tourists visit Berlin due to its cultural history, which is the reason why the gate is such a favored spot. It was built over two hundred years ago and is located very centrally near Tiergarten. However, due to the German division, the gate stood in a restricted area for years.
The public was able to access the area with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and has since become a symbol of reunification. The Quadriga with the Victoria figure on the gate is a symbol of peace. The statue is the Roman Goddess of Victory and therefore a significant landmark on the Roman model. When visiting Berlin, the Brandenburg Gate should without a doubt be on the check-list.
