It is idyllic, almost enchanted, here at Herthasee. Although you are very close to the Ku'damm, it seems like sitting by a lake somewhere in Brandenburg. You don't notice much of the city’s hustle and bustle in the beer garden at Herthasee.
Like the neighbouring lakes, however, the lake is not one of the original lakes in the Grundewald chain. It was created in 1889 to drain the villa colony in Grunewald. And this was a good thing, as it gave Berlin just another dreamy location.
Especially in this hectic city, there can hardly be enough small urban escapes. The beer garden at Herthasee offers this balancing relaxation through freshly tapped beer, colourful cocktails, tarte flambée and a few solid dishes.
Coffee, cakes, homemade sheet cake and ice cream, for example after a relaxing Sunday walk, also entice you to take a break in this truly beautiful garden. For those who prefer a hearty meal, there are very good game sausages fresh from the grill, as well as different salads.
