Bar Tausend Cantina
Schiffbauerdamm 11
10117 Berlin-Mitte
.How to get there
Painted in a subtle coating of black paint, the entrance to Cantina beneath the s-train bridge of Friedrichstraße is easily overlooked. Nothing gives away as to what’s behind this anonymous entrance.
The Cantina in the backroom of the renowned Bar Tausend is something special: black painted walls, an overly dominating light installation, and an open kitchen create a unique ambience.
The chef is Octavio Osés Bravo. In his "culture clash" cuisine he takes from Levantine, Arab, and Mediterranean influences, not to mention to the longstanding Asian tradition of the cantina.
The roasted cauliflower with fermented lemons, almonds, and a fantastic beurre blanc makes for a sensational starter. The octopus main, served with a zingy puree of black potatoes, light confit potatoes, and a spicy paprica oil joins the race.
A nightcap isn’t far off: Take a seat at the counter of Bar Tausend. Jazz, disco, soul, and funk, but also electro come together in elegant transitions. A dinner at Cantina can easily slip into the wee hours.
